activities; output not characteristic of aviation activity
Taxiways --E(Echo) and M(Mike) serve 11/29;
Despite description on stimulus list ( to support new business), not undertaken to enhance
activity, described as a routine rehabilitation. According to Tom Hirsh there has been no
reconstruction work on taxiways during his 20 or so years at Hanscom; 7,000 ft runway,
according to Tom, cannot accommodate loaded 747 (cargo)
How can $10 million be spent on resurfacing?—lots of special considerations e.g. grooved
surfaces, lights down center, need to accommodate aircraft weight which is distributed over a
small area; specs are set by FAA, Massport will provide more info on scope of rehab
Are other Hanscom projects on the stimulus list? —D Steele will provide list
·
- Tree removal on Jordan Conservation Land
Massport is cooperating with Bedford Conservation Commission and has been granted
access to delineate wetlands and designate trees; Massport acknowledged informal
discussions with Town officials to seek guidance on process prior to entering into formal
program with Bedford CC; no other communication with Bedford officials.
·
- State of Hanscom Presentation scheduled for next HFAC meeting, March 17 – room with screen
needed; Barbara Patzner will attend if her schedule permits.
